How are you implementing the vision (ELCC 1.3)?
The vision of my action
research will be implemented in several ways. I will try to get the vision
across to all the stakeholders in the school community. By November of 2012, I
will try to get the staff on board with my vision of my action research. I feel
that once I get the staff on board, it will be easier to complete my action
research. By February of 2013, I will involve all other stakeholders will be
informed of my action research vision. Once the results of my action research
are final, I will share the vision with all the stakeholders. By May 2013, I
will share the results of the action research with all the school community.
Steward the Vision (ELCC 1.4).
When sharing the vision
of my action research, I used motivational techniques to get all the
stakeholders on board with my action research. During a faculty meeting in
November, I explained to the staff that I would be conducting an action
research and if I could please get cooperation if I needed it. I explained what
the action research was about and received good feedback from the staff. When I
sent out the initial teachers survey, I used the results to measure how much
interest there was in my action research. I also used the results of the first
survey to see what changes I needed to make to my action research.
Promote community involvement in the vision (ELCC
1.5).
To gain the support of the community for my action
research, I used a letter to the
parents of the LEP students that were going to be involved in my research. In
the letter I asked the parents for their help with whatever they could do for
my research. I will be using the school television station to announce the
results of my action research. I want to use communication with the community
to get them involved in my vision.
Manage resources (ELCC 3.3).
When talking to the
principal about my action research, she expressed her opinion on using a
committee for my action research. Teachers and administrators were asked to
participate in my action research. I used all the members involved in my action
research to come up with the best action research. We decided that the school
literacy program would be the ideal topic for the action research. We have used
technology to collect any data that we have needed for our action research.
Mobilize community resources (ELCC 4.3).
I used the school social
worker to see if I had all the home information of the students that are to be
involved in my action research. I have not used much community resources to
express my vision to the community.
Promote positive school culture (ELCC 2.1).
The teacher feedback was
positive for my action research. They are not satisfied with how the literacy
program is implemented in our school. If our action research data says that the
literacy program is not helping students improve in reading levels, then
changes need to be made.
Provide an effective instructional program (ELCC
2.2).
I will conduct a
feedback survey at the end of my action research. My action research will be
completed by May 2013. I plan to compare initial data collected with data
collected at the end of my action research. I will analyze each objective that
was planned through my action research. Hopefully the data will show the
results and any changes that need to be made to the literacy program.
Influencing the larger context (ELCC 6.3).
We plan to explain the
results of the action research to the entire school community. All the
stakeholders will be debriefed of the results. We will announce the results to
the staff during a faculty meeting in May. We will use a power point
presentation to disseminate our results. The results of the action research
will be shared with the parents, students, and community members through a
special cultural night in the school. The cultural night will be advertised
through district television station, local radio stations and local newspaper.
During this night od culture we will share the results of the action research
with the community members.
Design a comprehensive professional growth plan (ELCC
2.4).
The results of my action
research will show either the literacy program is working or the literacy
program is not helping our students. If our research shows that the literacy
program is working in helping our LEP students, then the program should remain
as it is. If the results show that the literacy program is not helping, then
changes need to be made to the literacy program. Any program that is
implemented in schools must help students improve academically. The faculty
must know how to implement these programs. Teachers must be trained to
implement these programs.
